COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lankan stocks closed weaker Wednesday with trading at low levels owing to traditional new year holidays next week, brokers said.
The All Share Price Index fell 13.52 points (0.20%) to 6,913.73 while the S&P SL 20 index, which tracks the top 20 largest and most liquid stocks, closed at 3,904.32, down 5.34 points (0.14%).
Turnover was 395 million rupees.
The benchmark was dragged lower by losses in Nestle Lanka, Sri Lanka Telecom and Dialog Axiata.
Expolanka Lanka Holdings was one of the most actively traded stocks, hitting a 52-week low of 8.50 rupees, down 10 cents.
