Sri Lankan stocks recover, Gestetner rights soars
COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lankan recovered Tuesday in thin trade owing to forthcoming traditional new year holidays with Gestetner of Ceylon rights attracting investor interest, brokers said.
The All Share Price Index rose 9.74 points (0.14%) to close at 6,927.25 while the S&P SL 20 index, which tracks the top 20 largest and most liquid stocks, gained 15.79 points (0.41%) to close at 3,909.66.
Turnover was 457.3 million rupees with three crossings or off-the-floor negotiated deals, two of 349,000 shares of John Keells Holdings at 202.00 and one of 250,000 shares of DFCC Bank at 205.00.
The benchmark was lifted by gains in Carson Cumberbatch, Good Hope and Chevron Lubricants.
Gestetner of Ceylon rights soared 174% to close at 27.40, being the top gainer for the day.
