Sri Lanka’s Colombo Port hit by Coronavirus as Covid-19 cases top 12,700
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Colombo Port and the Department of Customs has been hit by Coronavirus as total cases went up and several Covid-19 infected elderly persons turned up dead in their homes in the northern part of the capital.
“The port has been subjected to a Coronavirus attack (darunu Coronavirus attack),” Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Daya Ratnayake told reporters.
“We are working together to take all steps necessary to emerge from this. We are following health rules. All essential work is being carried out. Several Customs Department persons have also been infected.”
He said four port workers were infected first and then another 11 were confirmed.
The Colombo Port is the main entry and exit port of goods and service in Colombo.
Sri Lanka confirmed 383 Coronavirus patients on November 05 with three persons found dead at home.
On November 05, another 213 Coronavirus cases were confirmed, Sri Lanka’s Health Ministry said, taking the total to 12,783 patients. (Colombo/Nov06/2020)
