ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Hayleys, a diversified conglomerate, has entered into an agreement to sell Luxury Resort (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary located in the Maldives, to Bohemia Luxury Resort for 17.25 million dollars.
Luxury Resort (Pvt) Ltd was the vehicle used by Hayleys and its leisure brand Amaya Leisure, to purchase Kuda Rah Island Resort Maldives for 23 million dollars in 2016, renaming it to Amaya Kudarah Maldives.
The company entered into a contract via a letter of intent on February 3, “which comprises the disposal of property, plant and equipment, leasehold rights, intangible assets, and inventories relating to its hotel operations in the Maldives.”
“On 16th May 2026, Hayleys PLC entered into an asset purchase agreement with the potential buyer, Bohemia Luxury Resort (Pvt) Ltd for a consideration of USD 17,250,000 and Management expects the transaction to be completed within the first few months from the reporting date.”
The sale was listed under “discontinued operations and assets held for sale” in the consolidated financial statement for 4Q 2025.
An impairment loss of 6.9 billion rupees has been accounted for by Hayleys, following the disposal of the subsidiary, of which 2.9 billion comes from impairment of investments in Luxury Resort, and 2.5 billion from impairment of balances receivable from the latter.
The group recorded a loss of 1.23 billion rupees from discontinued operations for the twelve months ended March 31.
Assets totalling 6.05 billion rupees were classified as held for sale, while liabilities directly associated with assets held for sale came up to 609.27 million rupees.
