Sri Lanka’s new cabinet passes vote-on-account
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s newly appointed cabinet of ministers had passed a proposal for a vote on account to allow state spending from January 01, Land Minister Gayantha Karunathilake said.
The minutes of a cabinet decision has to be ratified at immediate next meeting.
Sri Lanka’s political crisis erupted soon on October 26, two weeks before a budget for 2019 was to be presented to parliament.
Karunathilake said the government hoped to bring the vote on account to parliament soon. Parliament is due to meet on Friday.
President Maithripala Sirisena appointed 28 ministers as well as Prime Minister Wickremesinghe as National Policies and Economic Affairs. (Colombo/Dec19/2018)
