SriLanka stocks end marginally higher
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks gained 0.10 percent on Wednesday recovering some of the losses in the past few days, pushed up by Haycarb, Ceylon Tobacco and Expolanka Holdings, Colombo Stock Exchange said.
Turnover was 3.3 billion rupees with 81 stocks gaining and 106 falling.
The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 7.43 points to close at 7,588.34.
The index fell to a daily low at 7,390.78 reaching in the first hour into trading but picked up and continue to increase throughout the day on Volatile Trading.
The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 0.62 percent or 18.87 points to close at 3,051.08.
Hayleys Plc closed 3.30 rupees up at 68.80 rupees share with key subsidiaries Dipped Products gaining 90 cents to close at 61.20 rupees and Haycarb Plc gaining 10.75 rupees to close at 111.25 rupees.
The Kingsbury Plc closed 60 cents down at 11.50 rupees and Singer Industries Ceylon closed 6.20 rupees down at 96.60 rupees while Unisyst Engineering closed flat at 15.00 rupees.
Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 14.75 rupees up at 1,099.75 rupees, Piramal Glass Ceylon closed 50 cents up at 9.80 rupees and Ceylon Cold stores closed flat at 663.00 rupees.
Expolanka gains 1.30 rupees to close at 47.00 rupees and Melstacorp Holdings closed 10 cents up at 49.80 rupees a share.
LOLC Holdings of Ishara Nanayakkara fell 12.75 rupees to close at 342.00 rupees.
LOLC Finance, gained 10 cents to close at 6.80 rupees, Browns and Company gained 4.75 rupees to close at 178.75 rupees while Browns investments closed flat at 5.00 rupees and Brown.
John Keells Holdings fell 50 cents to close at 156.25 rupees while Vallibel One gained 2.10 rupees to close at 64.00 rupees.
Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 4.25 rupees down at 328.00 rupees, Lanka tiles gained 2.25 to close at 233.50 rupees while Lanka Walltiles closed 5.75 rupees down at 237.25 rupees and Lanka Ceramic closed 4.50 rupees down at 136.50 rupees.
Hatton National Bank closed 25 cents down at 136.50 rupees while Commercial Bank of Ceylon gained 50 cents to close at 88.20 rupees.
DFCC Bank closed 10 cents down at 63.10 rupees and Sampath Bank closed 5.00 rupees down at 160.00 rupees and Nations trust bank fell 1.00 rupees to close at 59.00 rupees.
Seylan Bank closed 1.40 rupees up at 52.90 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation gain 70 cents to close at 17.40 rupees.
Central Finance Company fell 70 cents to close at 96.80 rupees and Citizens Development Business Finance fell 2.25 rupees to close at 115.00 rupees Alliance Finance Company gained 1.10 rupees to close at 51.30 rupees.
Softlogic finance closed 10 cents up at 10.60 rupees and Housing Development Finance gained 1.70 rupees to close at 39.70 rupees while Sinhaputhra Finance closed 50 cents down at 7.40 rupees.
Cargills Ceylon fell 25 cents to close at 234.25 rupees, Hemas Holdings fell 70 cents to close at 85.50 rupees, Distilleries Company fell 10 cents to close at 20.00 while Ceylon Grain Elevators gained 3.75 rupees to close at 139.75 rupees.
In the hotel sector, Eden Hotel Lanka closed flat at 11.00 rupees, Sigiriya Village hotel closed 20 cents up at 33.50 rupees and Aitken Spence Hotel holdings gain 20 cents to close at 30.70 rupees while John Keels Hotels closed 10 cents down at 10.30.
Carson Cumberbatch fell 2.25 rupees to close at 300.00 rupees while Access Engineering gained 40 cents to close at 24.50 rupees.
Nestle Lanka closed 16.50 rupees down at 1,180.00 rupees while Aitken Spence Plc closed 1.40 rupees up at 63.30 rupees.
Sunshine Holdings fell 20 cents to close at 80.00 rupees a share.
Sri Lanka Telecom closed 20 cents up at 36.60 rupees and Richard Pieris and Company closed 1.00 rupee up at 17.00 rupees while Dialog Axiata closed 10 cents down at 12.40 rupees.
The Capital Goods Industry was the most active, gained 1.3 percent today. (Colombo/Feb17/2021)
