SriLankan Airlines appoints pilot as chief executive

ECONOMYNEXT – State-run SriLankan Airlines said it had appointed Suren Ratwatte, a pilot who had flown for the airline in the 1980s before joining Dubai-based Emirates.

He has over 18,000 flying hours and can fly Boeing B-777 and Airbus A380 aircraft, the airline said.

He was most recently the Human Factors Manager at Emirates Airlines, has a Master’s Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
