SriLankan Airlines gets second A330-300 aircraft
EconomyNext – SriLankan Airlines took delivery of its second Airbus 330-300 on Friday as part of its wide-body re-fleeting programme to induct more advanced and fuel efficient aircraft.
The new aircraft, named “The City of Sihagiri”, will be used on the major Far Eastern markets of Canton, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong, the national carrier said in a statement.
The airline started its fleet renewal programme in October this year with the addition of the first A330-300 to its fleet and will be acquiring eight of the new generation A350-900s, with three due to be delivered in 2016, a fourth in 2017 and the balance thereafter.
SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Kapila Chandrasena said the new A330-300 aircraft helped increase customer interest and led to high seat factors on routes it has been deployed on.
