Sugathadasa back as Sri Lanka insurance regulator
COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Indrani Sugathadasa, a retired civil servant has been re-appointed as chairperson of the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka (IBSL).
Indrani Sugathadasa was also a former chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
She resigned saying she wanted to uphold her principle after facing mounting pressure over probes into pump and dump scams in the Colombo Stock Exchange during a stock market bubble, during the tenure of the ousted Rajapaksa regime.
"I must have done a good job during my last tenure," Sugathadasa was quoted as saying in Sri Lanka’s Daily Mirror Business newspaper.
The new administration has also re-appointed Tilak Karunaratne, also ousted while probing stock market scams during the Rajapaksa regime as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
