Swiss Embassy staffer brought to National Institute of Mental Health
The Swiss Embassy staffer in the centre of the alleged abduction controversy was brought to the National Institute of Mental Health in Angoda this morning for an evaluation of her mental state.
The female embassy employee, who is currently in remand custody, was to be produced before a team of specialist psychiatrists at the hospital.
She was arrested on charges of “exciting disaffection against the government and fabricating false evidence”.
Meanwhile, Foreign Relations Minister Dinesh Gunawardena had assured his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis last night that the Embassy staffer’s rights will be protected and that she will be provided all possible facilities.
