Train strike to continue today; unions claim no solution provided yet
The train strike launched by several trade unions will continue today (01) as well over demands including a solution for salary anomalies.
Railway trade unions said the strike action will be continued since an acceptable decision was not taken yesterday (30) during a discussion held with Cabinet sub-committee on salary anomalies.
Speaking to RepublicNext, Locomotive Engine Operators’ Union (LEOU) Secretary Indika Dodangoda said that the unions will continue the strike till the Cabinet arrives at a fair solution for the salary anomalies.
Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva, however, tweeted that the talks were successful, expressing hope that the strikes should now come to an end.
