Two more Governors appointed

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed two new Governors today, Anuradha Yahampath for the Eastern province and Prof. Tissa Vitarana for the North Central Province.

Yahampath, a British educated Textile Designer is a businesswoman and a Director at Kandygs the handloom exporter. She has been a long-time Gotabaya supporter and a member of the “Eliya” movement.

Professor Vitarana is a distinguished medical professional, with a PhD in virology. He has held a number of important positions in the Medical field in Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.

A long-time Leftist politician who started in the Lanka Sama Samaja Party, Vitarana held cabinet positions in the Mahinda Rajapaksa government.
