ECONOMYNEXT – Two workers at a hotel in Dadalla, Galle, where the visiting England cricket team were quarantined have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a source at the Galle Medical Officer of Health (MOH) office.
The source told EconomyNext that the tests were conducted in Walliwela and Kapumulla, Galle.
One of the visiting cricketers tested positive for the virus earlier this week, but according to health ministry sources, no other team member or official have tested positive.
Meanwhile, the national COVID-19 task force issuing a statement said that the Mawenella area in the Kegalle district has been isolated with immediate effect after 12 residents tested positive for the virus.
In Atalugama, Bandaragama, which is still under isolation, 1,059 patients have been identified so far from over 6,000 PCR tests carried out in the area. (Colombo/Jan15/2021)
