UK Tamils urged to join case against Gota in US

The British Parliament’s All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Tamils is asking  refugees who have been torture victims in Sri Lanka to join in the case filed against former defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the United States by an alleged torture victim.

Rajapaksa was served notice on two civil cases filed against him earlier this week. One is by an alleged Tamil torture victim and the other is by Ahimsa Wickremetunga daughter of slain newspaper editor Lasantha.

Paul Scully Chair of the APPG for Tamils welcomed the case.

In a letter which was released to the public yesterday, he said “We hope the hundreds of victims of torture in Sri Lanka under the Rajapaksa administration who are now refugees in the UK can join this action and also seek compensation.”

Meanwhile Rajapaksa is due to return to Sri Lanka on Friday April 12, and address a meeting of his Eliya group on April 20, his spokesman Milinda Rajapaksha told RepublicNext.
