UNP says Sri Lanka state Covid-19 suspect TV journalist came to their press conference
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s opposition United National Party said a state television journalist who has been tested for Coronavirus and attended the cabinet news briefing had also come to their press conference.
The state information office asked journalists who had attended briefing to stay at home until they are contacted by health authorities, in case the test turns out to be positive.
The UNP called for an inquiry to find how state TV sent a journalist who was PCR tested to work.
However it is not clear whether journalist was identified as a contact, before or after the he covered the press conference.
Sri Lanka however has a practice of sending persons who had come into contact with a confirmed Coronavirus patient to home quarantine.
In Vietnam, one of the most successful countries in controlling Covid-19 no person no contacts of a confirmed patient is sent home. (Colombo/Oct16/2020)
