US investment opportunities in Sri Lanka discussed
Sri Lankan delegates held discussions on investment opportunities that are available for US companies in Sri Lanka at on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings held in Washington DC from 08th – 13th April.
Opportunities available for US companies to invest in Sri Lanka’s infrastructure, ports and other potential sectors including the Colombo International Financial City (Port City) were taken into discussion at the meeting.
Sri Lankan delegation was led by Eran Wickramaratne, the State Minister of Finance.
The delegation further discussed on fiscal and financial sector reforms, project financing and sustainable economic growth and stability with IMF and World Bank officials and signed Project agreements for Public Private Partnership (PPP) Framework Development and Climate Smart Irrigated Agriculture (CSA) with the World Bank.
Wickramaratne also held discussions with Alice Wells, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs of the State where they discussed US – SL relations, regional peace, Sri Lanka’s micro and macro-economic fundamentals and prospects for investment led economic growth.
