W D Lakshman appointed CBSL Governor
ECONOMYNEXT – W D Lakshman, a former Colombo University Vice Chancellor, has been appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), officials said.
He last chaired a committee to probe and report on the Singapore Sri Lanka Trade Agreement appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena.
He headed a Presidential Commission on Taxation in 2010 and was chairman of the Colombo-based Institute of Policy Studies.
The 78-year-old academic was formerly an advisor to the Ministry of Finance. (Colombo/Dec24/2019)
