ECONOMYNEXT – W D Lakshman, a former professor at Colombo University has been appointed the governor of Sri Lanka’s central bank, officials said.
He last chaired a committee to probe and report on the Singapore Sri Lanka Trade Agreement by appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena.
He headed a Presidential Commission on Taxation in 2010 and was chairman of the Colombo-based Institute of Policy Studies.
The 78 year old academic had been an advisor to the Finance Ministry and vice chancellor. (Colombo/Dec24/2019)
