Welby calls on President Sirisena
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby called on President Maithripala Sirisena today as part of his three-day visit to Sri Lanka.
The Presidential Secretariat said in a Press Release that the head of the global Anglican Church and the Church of Ceylon had shown his appreciation of the President’s efforts at reconciliation.
The President, in turn, had said that the Archbishop’s visit was a blessing for Sri Lanka.
Welby is on a three-day visit to Sri Lanka where he visited several sites including the bombed-out church in Katuwapitiya where more than a hundred people perished on Easter Sunday.
