Will continue to work in unity as the leader of UNP -PM
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that as the leader of the UNP he would continue to work in unity so as not to cause any problems within the party.
At an event in Temple Trees yesterday (22 Aug), Premier said that he had advised party officials to conclude the formation of the new alliance as soon as possible.
Wickremesinghe also said that the government should continue with the program of development of the country while safeguarding the freedoms granted by the present government in the past few years.
Further, he said that the government have created an environment where people can live freely due to several decisions including the establishment of an independent judicial system.
“No matter how much we are blamed today, none of them has been carried away in white vans and disappeared or murdered, we should all move forward while protecting the freedom we won,” he added.
He also said that a lot of work was done in the last few years and that program needs to be taken further and added that the government took steps to find employment despite the challenges.
“Steps must be taken to create a government of our own to safeguard the development program and move the country towards development,” said Wickremesinghe.
