151 Navy Personnel have recovered from COVID 19 – Army Chief
ECONOMYNEXT- Army Commander Lt Gen Shavendra Silva said that a total of 479 Navy personnel have been infected by COVID-19 so far while 151 of them have completely recovered.
He said that the Navy personnel who are cured are further directed to another 14-day quarantine.
Further, he said that SriLankan Airlines will bring a group of passengers to Sri Lanka from Japan tomorrow and they will also be directed to the quarantine centres managed by Sri Lanka Army upon their arrival.
The Army Commander also said that including the 411 individuals from today (15) a total of 9258 have left the quarantine centres after completing the quarantine period.
While 2586 individuals from 34 quarantine centres managed by the tri-forces are still undergoing the quarantine process.
DIG Ajith Rohana said that a total of 55,000 have been arrested for violating the quarantine curfew. Police has filed action against 12,000 of them while the courts have punished 5400.
Also, he said that since March 11 a total of 115,000 were directed to self-quarantine and 85,000 from them have received certificates for successfully completing the self-quarantine process.(Colombo/May15/2020)
