A total of 16,800 unemployed university graduates will be recruited to the state sector as trainee training officers today (30).
Selected graduates will ceremoniously receive their letters of appointment from Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees, marking an island-wide employment drive of unemployed graduates that will commence today, the Government’s official news portal news.lk reported.
The event, organised by the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, will see graduates who completed their degrees as internal students of state universities in the year 2012 receiving their employment letters.
Quoting a statement made by Wickremesinghe to the Cabinet, news.lk reported that university graduates from 2013 to 2016 will also be appointed gradually.
The Prime Minister’s Media Division (PMMD) noted that external graduates have not been treated unfairly, as alleged by the Opposition.
Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday, speaking at a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) event said the Government did not give external graduates their due recognition.
