ECONOMYNEXT – A committee headed by State Minister for Finance Eran Wickremeratne has been appointed to decide on the future of state-run Sri Lankan Airlines.
Minister Harsha de Silva who is a member of the committee said, in a twitter.com message that investment bankers, lawyers, auditors and regulators are in the group.
It will provide policy guidelines on the future of the airline within two weeks to President Maithripala Sirisena.
Before President Sirisena triggered a constitutional and economic crisis by appointing Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister, the government was planning to launch a search for a strategic investor with a board chaired by veteran banker and administrator Ranjith Fernando starting a process to trim losses.
