AG requests Speaker not to release bond scam forensic report
Attorney General Dappula De Livera has requested Speaker Karu Jayasuriya not to release the forensic audit report on the alleged Central Bank bond scam, Jayasuriya told Parliament today.
Last week, on the first day of sittings of the new parliamentary session, MPs urged the Speaker to table the report in the house.
The Central Bank had spent Rs 900 million to prepare the audit report, United National Party (UNP) MP told Parliament that day.
Dr Harsha de Silva told the house on the same day that since a new Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) had yet to be appointed, the Speaker was in possession of the report and he ought to release it – a sentiment shared by his colleagues in the UNP.
