All day curfews on Sunday May 31, June 4 and 5 to prevent gatherings – President’s office

CORONAVIRUS BATTLE: Sri Lanka has imposed strict curfews to curb the spread of community spread of Covid-19.

ECONOMYNEXT – An all-island 24-hour curfew will be imposed this Sunday,  May 31, as well as the two days of Poson, the Presidential Secretariat announced.

“All these curfews are to prevent people from gathering in large numbers,” Mohan Samaranayake the head of the President’s Media Division told EconomyNext.

He said the 24-hour curfew for June 4 and 5 is to prevent large gatherings and also groups going on pilgrimages, he added.

On all other days the curfew will be imposed at 10 pm and lifted at 4 am, he said. (Colombo, May 28, 2020)
