Argentina president tests positive after getting Sputnik vaccine
ECONOMYNEXT – Argentina’s President Alberto Fernandez has tested positive for Coronavirus after getting two doses of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine, media reports said.
Fernandez has been tested after complaining of fever and a headache, Federico Saavendra, a member of his medical staff has said.
The Argentine leader had taken a the first dose of the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine in a public hospital in Buenos Aires province in January and received a second dose on Feb. 11, his press office has said.
Sputnik V is 91.6 percent effective against infection and 100 percent against severe cases, Russia’s Gamaleya Institute, which developed the vaccine, had claimed.
Sputnik is still being evaluated by the European Medicines Agency.
Sri Lanka has also ordered Sputnik V vaccines for cash. (Colombo/July02/2021)
