Army looking for suspected military member who ignored communal violence
The Army is seeking the public’s assistance in tracking down an individual in uniform who allegedly turned a blind eye to communal violence.
As seen in CCTV footage circulating online, the suspected military member is standing idly by as rioters wreak havoc in an incident of communal violence that took place in Thummodara on Monday (13).
In a statement issued to the media, Army spokesman Brigadier Sumith Athapaththu said the Army has launched an inquiry to establish the identity of the person suspected to be a military member.
“The public is also advised to help the Army trace this person for necessary action. If the inquiry confirms that the person happens to be an Army member, the Army will take necessary action against said member,” he said.
The Brigadier requested members of the public to call the Special Investigation Unit of the Military Police Corps on 0112514280 with any information that may prove useful.
