ECONOMYNEXT – The Kingdom of Bahrain will restrict inbound passengers from a ‘red list’ of South Asian countries that comprise Sri Lanka, India, Nepal and Bangladesh starting May 24, Civil Aviation Affairs of Bahrain has said.
Bahrain is the latest country to impose a travel ban on travellers from Sri Lanka where daily COVID-19 cases have surged past 2,500. Singapore, Kuwait, Italy, Dubai and the Maldives have also slapped a travel ban on Sri Lanka till May 31.
As infections spike, the island nation has imposed internal travel restrictions until June 7 with sporadic respites. The island has also suspended all inbound passengers to its two international airports till May 31. (Colombo/May24/2021)
