Bangladesh cricket tour of Sri Lanka put off over Coronavirus
ECONOMYNEXT – A series of three test matches between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh planned over the next several weeks has been abandoned over Coronavirus, the Indian Ocean island’s cricket body said.
“The decision was jointly taken by both Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), after careful consideration of the current health situation and the health regulations, such as quarantine requirements,” the body said in a statement.
The tour has been in doubt over a two week quarantine requirement for all overseas visitors coming to Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were scheduled to play a 03 match test series Under the ICC World Test Championship.
The Bangladesh team was originally expected to arrive in Sri Lanka on September 27 for the series which was to run till November. (Colombo/Sept28/2020)
