ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka heads into a countrywide curfew from tonight with all districts placed under restrictions until Thursday morning, the Presidential Secretariat said.
The curfew in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Kandy and Jaffna will continue indefinitely, a media statement signed by the Director-General of Media in the Presidential Secretariat said.
The rest of the country will see the curfew lifted at 6 am on the 9th and reimposed at 4 pm the same day.
This week has been declared a work-from-home week the statement added for both the government and private sectors.
Workers engaged in farming and export crops have clearance to carry on their duties, the announcement said. (Colombo, April 6, 2020)
