China construction workers in Sri Lanka hit by Coronavirus
ECONOMYNEXT – Four Chinese nationals working in a construction site in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo and two locals have been confirmed with Coronavirus, the Chinese embassy said.
The workers were at a construction site in Kotahena, Colombo 13 where workers tested.
“All the workers are in good health condition and getting treatment in government designated (sic) hospital,” the Chinese embassy in Colombo said.
The embassy said the health supervisor in a initial analysis suspected the infection to have come from ‘rotating” workers from a local contractor company
The embassy construction is ongoing and the detection had helped contain the outbreak.
Stricture prevention and disinfection measures had also been taken.
Some Indian workers at a construction site in Colombo also tested positive earlier in the week.
Sri Lanka is in the middle of a outbreak of Coronavirus which spread rapidly from a fish-market and Colombo’s northern areas have been particularly hit with public health inspectors saying infected persons are turning up from random testing. (Colombo/Nov12/2020)
