China wins Rs5.7bn Sri Lanka power line deal
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has awarded a 5.7 billion rupee contract to build a high tension transmission line to China National Cable Engineering Corporation.
The 220kiloVolt transmission line will run from Polipitiya to Hambantota, the state information office said.
The transmission line is part of efforts at boosting efficiency of the grid, power minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya had told the cabinet of ministers.
China is to build an industrial zone in Hambantota. (Colombo/Mar01/2018)
