Colonel and soldiers among 21 arrested for digging for Tiger Gold
ECONOMYNEXT – The Police Special Task Force has arrested 21 people in Dharmapuram in Kilinochchi yesterday for allegedly excavating a place which is believed to contain Gold hidden by LTTE cadres before the conclusion of the war.
Among those nabbed are a serving Colonel in the Army and two soldiers.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Army and the STF, he said.
Police Spokesman Jaliya Senaratne told EconomyNext that the group is yet to be produced before a Magistrate.
The Colonel and the soldiers are believed to have been providing security to the group digging for Gold.
Police also seized several vehicles including the official car of the Colonel, a luxury SUV, and a van.
