Corona-related deaths continue to climb as another woman dies in Colombo
ECONOMYNEXT – A 79-year old woman who died at home in Colombo yesterday November 3 has been classified as the 24th person to die from the Covid 19 disease in Sri Lanka the government announced today.
The Department of Government Information in a statement released this evening November 4, said that the woman from the Colombo 13 area had been suffering from a chronic illness for some time.
During a post-mortem investigation it was revealed that she had had Covid 19 and had a heart failure as a result.
Another 78-year-old man from the same area who was admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo with severe head injuries following a fall at his home also died yesterday.
At the post-mortem doctors discovered that he had been suffering from Covid but his death was ruled as not been directly caused by the virus.
The number of deaths from Covid 19 has doubled in the past month as the second wave of the disease engulfed most of the Western Province infecting more than 8,000 people and forcing tens of thousands into quarantine. (Colombo November 4, 2020)
