COVID 19 patient identified at Lankapura Divisional Secretariat – Govt.

ECONOMYNEXT – An official at the Lankapura Divisional Secretariat has tested positive for the COVID 19 virus, the Department of Information said.

The official is said to be a close associate of an inmate of the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre, which is the epicentre of Sri Lanka’s latest COVID 19.

He was diagnosed after all members of the staff at the Secretariat were tested for the virus, the statement added.

The patient had been in self-quarantine, Spokesman for the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID 19 Col Vijitha Hettiarachchi said.

It also said that the staff at the Secretariat were all tested for the virus and had been quarantined.

Lankapura Division is close to the Polonnaruwa District where the Kandakadu and Senapura camps are located.

This brings the total number of patients detected from this cluster to 599.
