ECNONOMYNEXT – The total number of COVID 19 patients in the country since the outbreak has now risen to 916 with the addition of 26 patients yesterday and one today, the Ministry of Health said.
The single patient reported today adds to the Navy cluster as the person is described by the Ministry as a close associate of an infected member of the Navy.
More than half of the COVID 19 positive individuals in Sri Lanka are from the Navy or are their close associates, Health Authorities said.
At present 462 COVID 19 patients are receiving treatment at government hospitals while 445 have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals the Director-General of Health Services Dr Anil Jasinghe said.
Jasinghe added that the Health Department had conducted 889 PCR tests yesterday and detected 26 patients. (Colombo, May 14, 2020)
