ECONOMYNEXT – Curfew hours are further relaxed from tomorrow but travel restrictions remain in place for the Colombo and Gampaha districts.
A statement from the Presidential Secretariat issued a short while ago said that curfew island-wide will be effective 10.00pm to 4.00am daily from tomorrow, May 26th onwards until further notice.
The authorities are urging people to strictly follow guidelines prescribed by the health authorities to prevent the spread of the Corona virus.
This should be during the operations of factories, institutes, offices and shops as well as public transportation.
These guidelines include disinfection, wearing face masks, washing hands from time to time and maintaining social distancing.
Heads of state and private sector entities are free to decide on the number and categories of workers to be called for work in consideration of the nature of the services they provide.
Tourist Board approved Hotels and Restaurants in the City of Colombo will be allowed to function, the City’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Ruwan Wijemuni was quoted as saying.
He said Municipal officers will inspect these institutions to ensure Health guidelines are being followed.
Travelling between districts except in the two districts of Colombo and Gampaha will be permitted from tomorrow, Tuesday, the May 26th. (Colombo, May 25, 2020)
