CWC Leaders thank Mahinda for the daily wage increase
ECONOMYNEXT – Members of Parliament from the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) are thanking Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa for succeeding in getting a flat rate daily wage increase for workers in the Tea and Rubber plantations.
On Monday the Wages Board for the Plantations voted to increase the daily wage to LKR1, 000 out of which LKR900 would be considered as salary and LKR100 as an allowance.
Plantation owners and Employee Unions both voted for the increase, a Press Release issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Secretary said.
It added that CWC Chairman and State Minister Jeevan Thondaman, Vice Chairman Senthil Thondaman and Treasurer Maruthapandi Rameshwavaran visited the PM at his Wijerama Mawatha residence and thanked him. The CWC is part of the governing Sri Lanka Podujana Nidahas Peramuna. (Colombo, February 9, 2021)
