ECONOMYNEXT- The government will make a final decision whether the Grade Five Scholarship examinations and the GCE Advanced Level examinations will go ahead on schedule depending on the number of Covid patients are found in the next 24-hours.
Co-Cabinet Spokesman Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told reporters that the Education Ministry will make the final decision on whether to go ahead with the exams “depending on the results of the PCR reports tomorrow.”
Yesterday, the Education Ministry said that no decision has been taken to postpone the Advanced Level or Grade 5 Scholarship examinations.
The Grade 5 scholarship is scheduled to held on October 11, while Advanced level is scheduled to be held from October 12 to November 6
However, Minister of Education Prof G.L. Peiris told media yesterday that there are requests from parents to hold the examination on schedule despite the latest outbreak of Covid-19 in the Gampaha area.
But he said that if the exam is held on schedule the safety and security of the students will be a priority.
The Minister also said that a final decision will be taken over the next couple of days. (Colombo/Oct06/2020)
