Foreign Ministry to open Regional Consular office in Kandy

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry will open a Consular Affairs office in Kandy tomorrow February 6, offering these services outside Colombo, the Ministry announced today.

A press statement issued by the Ministry said Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena will declare open the Regional Consular office tomorrow afternoon which is located at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Information Technology Center in Gatambe, Peradeniya

Regional Consular Office will offer a range of Consular Services for which citizens would have had to come to Colombo for.

They are the attestation of birth, marriage and death certificates, educational and other legal documents for their use abroad, extending assistance to family members of Sri Lankans stranded abroad, facilitation of redress and compensation claims of families of migrant workers, and the repatriation of human remains from overseas.   1. A long awaited and time wise well overdue requirement for the citizens in and around Kandy. Suggest that the Passport Department also to be housed in the same building for the convenience of the public.
