Halloween Horror turns sour for Sri Lanka mall
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s latest upscale mall Colombo City Centre (CCC) yesterday issued a statement that it has stopped a horror house and started an investigation, after reports of sexual harassment.
A lady had posted on social media that she and her female cousin had gone into the horror house named ‘Zombie Run’ at CCC, and men groped and held them against their will.
"Soon after I heard about this complaint, I have personally been in touch with the mother," CCC Chief Executive Anand Sundaram said in an official statement.
"On behalf of Colombo City Centre, I sincerely apologise for the experience that the person went through at this set-up. No one should go through such an experience,"
He said that the operator of Zombie Run has been told to stop operations immediately, and an investigation has begun.
"Strict actions will be taken," Sundaram said. "We are committed to ensuring we have a world class mall and will take all actions to ensure our customers have a world class experience."
The CCC is a mixed-development project which is a joint venture between Sri Lanka’s Abans Group and Singapore’s Next Story Group.
The mall was opened in September, while the hotel and residential units are still under construction. (Colombo/Oct31/2018)
