Former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundera are out on bail after Judges in separate courts released them today.
Both men were charged with alleged negligence in the Easter Sunday attacks where despite receiving information before the strikes they failed to take necessary action to prevent the suicide blasts which killed 260 people.
They had been earlier released on bail by the Magistrate’s court but the Attorney General filed a revision application and the bail order was revised.
The order to release Fernando was given by Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne and Jayasundera’s order in another High Court by Judge Adithya Patabendige.
The AG’s department did not object to bail in both instances
