IFC to finance Fairway Sri Lanka’s waste-to-energy firm

ECONOMYNEXT – Washington based International Finance Corporation said it is planning to help finance a 67 million US dollar waste-to-energy project by Sri Lanka’s Fairway Holdings group.
IFC will provide a 7 million US dollar loan to the company.
The mass incinerator has the capacity to 500 tonnes of municipal solid waste a day.
It is expected to generate 80 GigaWatt hours (millions of units) of electricity a year.
The facility will process waste from Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia, Moratuwa, Maharagama, Boralesgamuwa, Kesbewa, Piliyandala and Homagama local authorities. (Colombo/May18/2018)
