Indian Railways launches Ramayana tour with Sri Lanka air leg: report
ECONOMYNEXT – India’s state-run railway will launch a Ramayana tour package in November that includes a Sri Lankan leg where pilgrims will be flown to Colombo from the south Indian city of Chennai, news reports said.
Indian Railways will run a Shri Ramayana Yatra Express from Madurai in Tamil Nadu on November 14 on the Ramayana circuit to cover the major spots related to the Hindu epic, the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) reported.
The 16-day all inclusive tour package will cost 15,120 Indian rupees per passenger.
The tour is scheduled to start on November 14, 2018, from New Delhi with its first halt in Ayodhya and the final halt in Rameshwaram.
The Sri Lankan leg of the tour is to be done separately and has been planned prior to the train journey with departure from Chennai on November 2 with pilgrims flown to Colombo in Sri Lanka where they will visit Ramboda, Nuwara Eliya and Chilaw.
Indian Railways said the 800-seater Shri Ramayana Yatra Express train will cover all important destinations associated with the life of Lord Shri Ram.
The package will cover all meals, accommodation and transfers, and sight-seeing arrangements.
