Japan firm eyes electric three wheeler plant in Sri Lanka
ECONOMYNEXT – Tokyo-based Future Science Research Inc, has expressed interest in starting an electric three wheeler factory in Sri Lanka catering to the domestic market, the ministry of industries said.
FRSI Chairman Akihiko Matsumura had met Industries Minister Rishad Bathiudeen in Colombo, along with Sunil Gamage, Chairman of Japan Asia Holdings.
He had also expressed interest in setting up charging stations, with a suitable joint venture partners.
Matsumura is connected to 3DOM Inc which makes batteries for smaller electric vehicles, the statement said.
Matsumura had been interested in Sri Lanka following a visit by President Maithripala Sirisena to Japan and the focus on eco-friendly vehicles in Sri Lanka. (Colombo/May02/2018)
