ECONOMYNEXT – Kavan Ratnayaka, former head of tourism development, has been appointed the new chairman of the state-run Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), a statement said.
Minister of Port, Shipping and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayaka said Ratnayaka brings experience in both public and private sectors to his new job.
The port of Colombo has almost reached its capacity with collaborative teamwork between SLPA’s Jaya Container Terminal and the private South Asia Gateway Terminals and the Colombo International Container Terminals.
Before his appointment as the chairman of SLPA, Ratnayaka served the chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
He is also a former chairman of Associated Newspapers of Ceylon (Lake House).
He has also served as the Country General Manager of IBM Sri Lanka, Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Broadband and the Chief Corporate Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC.
