Letter warning of imminent terror attack is fake – Police Media spokesman
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka Police department media spokesman is saying a letter circulating in the social media warning of an imminent terrorist attack is fake.
The letter, purportedly signed by a retired Lt Colonel working in a Security Manager position in a private company has information about a possible attack from an Islamic extremist group.
It has been circulating through WhatsApp and other social media on May 19,2020.
However, Sri Lanka Police Media spokesman, Superintendent of Police (SP) Jaliya Senaratne said there is no information about such attack and the letter circulating on social media is carrying false information.
“It is false information, we have not received any such letter, ” Police Media spokesman, Superintendent of Police (SP) Jaliya Senaratne told EconomyNext.
“If something like that is happening it (the warning) should come from us,” Senaratne said. (Colombo/ May 19/ 2020)
