Nathaniel Rothschild visits Sri Lanka Port City
ECONOMYNEXT – Nathaniel Rothschild, a member of a Europe-based investment banking family, had visited Sri Lanka’s Port City as part of a business tour to the island.
The port city has placed several blocks of reclaimed land, including a Marina, on sale for investors as part of efforts to draw 15 billion dollars of investments to build a city within a city.
Rothschild was “highly impressed by the project, particularly the Marina and the hospitality plots” the Port City said after his visit.
Among the Rothschild business interests is Port Montenegro, a luxury yacht and residential project in the Adriatic Sea.
He was accompanied by Sri Lankan born British politician and former EU parliamentarian, Niranjan Deva Aditya and business executive Rajan Brito.
The Port City is backed by China Harbhour Engineering Corporation of China.
Rothschild had met Raja Edirisuriya the Executive Project Director of Port City Colombo, Yue Yeqing, Assistant Managing Director of CHEC Port City Colombo.
The senior management of CHEC Port City Colombo, appreciated Mr. Rothschild’s visit and expressed willingness to continue dialogue with Mr. Rothschild for possible future cooperation. (Colombo/Jan15/2021)
