National narcotics prevention week from 22 June to 1 July
An island-wide National Narcotics Prevention week will be held from 22 June to 1 July under President Maithripala Sirisena’s initiative to eliminate narcotics.
President’s Secretary Udaya R. Seneviratne announced this program during a discussion on drug control held at the Presidential Secretariat today (27).
Broad discussions were held on topics such as security of the prisons, rehabilitation of drug addicts, problems in the government analyst department, and proposed amendments to the Excise Ordinance and the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance.
Acting IGP C.D. Wickramarathne, Ven. Kuppiyawatte Bodhananda Thero, ministerial secretaries and all security heads were present for the disscusion.
