Negombo man sets fire to building owned by mother-in-law
A man has set fire to a five-storey building owned by his mother-in-law in Kochchikade, Negombo, last night (23) causing extensive damages to the property.
Kochchikade police told RepublicNext that the alleged arsonist had set fire to the building after his mother-in-law had refused to give him the money he had asked of her earlier in the evening.
The first floor of the building, a home appliance store, has been destroyed completely in the fire.
The suspect has fled the area after the incident, and Kochchikade police is carrying out further investigations.
Meanwhile, the Police Media Division said to RepublicNext earlier that the fire had broken out in the building due to some natural cause.
